Providing at least 24 hours' notice to cancel an appointment helps us to keep your session costs down, maximises our availability to clients and minimises lost clinical time. Appointments missed or rescheduled without 24 hours' notice will incur the full fee. Appointments cancelled with more than 24 hours' notice will be issued a full refund.
Appointments can be cancelled using our online client portal located on the Bookings page of this website or by emailing admin@saltcounsellingandwellbeing.com.au.
Salt Counselling and Wellbeing operates 100% online, providing counselling and supervision via Telehealth. While many Telehealth only counselling services are run by large companies, Salt offers the personal touches and benefits of being a small practice while still providing the advantages of online services. This model has a number of significant benefits for both us and our clients, including:
- Our clients save time and money by not having to travel to appointments.
- Our services are accessible no matter where in Australia you live, allowing people in rural and remote areas to access high quality services. This also means we can deliver services Australia wide - not just SA where we are based.
- Counselling can be a vulnerable and emotional experience. Being in the comfort of your own home during your appointment and not having to immediately walk out into a public area afterwards can make the experience feel far more comfortable.
- Not having to pay for a physical counselling space allows us to keep costs down. The cost of our counselling appointments is significantly lower than the Australian Association of Social Workers recommended fee. This makes counselling affordable for more people, especially with Medicare rebates available.
Your treatment with Salt Counselling and Wellbeing is confidential and private. This means we will not disclose the information you provide to us to Third Parties unless you consent for us to do so. It is important to note that there are limits to confidentiality in exceptional circumstances including when there is a risk to you or others, or if we are responding to a subpoena or court order. Your practitioner will discuss this with you during your first appointment and answer any questions you might have.
We will create and keep progress notes for you which will record all relevant information relating to the treatment provided to you. We may also collect and store health information about you from third parties such as your doctor. Your progress notes are managed and protected in accordance with the applicable legal requirements. Progress notes are legally required to be stored for a number of years following the conclusion of your treatment with us.
To support the security of your personal information this practice uses Power Diary which is compliant with the international standards for online security and encryption. You are also able to request access to a copy of your progress notes. Please discuss this with your practitioner should you wish to do this at any time.
Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSW) are social workers who have extensive postgraduate training and experience in the field of mental health. They have the training, skills and expertise to assess your situation and provide treatment using evidence based treatment methods called Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS). AMHSWs are registered providers under Medicare, so if you have an active Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you will be eligible for a rebate.
The standard fee for a counselling appointment or supervision session (up to 60 minutes) is $180. At the completion of the appointment, you will be emailed an invoice that you are required to pay in the time frame specified on the invoice. Payment can be made using a credit card via our secure online payment system or by bank transfer. Any available Medicare rebates will be processed once payment has been received.
If your appointment is funded by a third party (such as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a Victim Support Scheme or your employer) and we are providing services under a contractual arrangement, your appointment will be invoiced directly to the referring organisation. If you book and attend an appointment but do not have any available sessions under this arrangement, you will be invoiced directly.
